Why Do People Flip Pictures

Do people really think that flipping off the camera makes them appear cool?

Flip off
Flick off

Whatever you choose to call it, why do some idiots still insist on doing this?

It doesnt make you look cool, rather it makes you look like an inept social leper.

I don't know, generally when I see someone "Flip off" the camera on whatever I am watching it means to me "Fack all of you"

So no, not cool.

Why do idiots insist on smiling for a picture?

All the pictures of me where I'm giving the bird to the photog isn't meant as "Wow, I'm so cool" - it means "f*** off, ***hole, I don't want my m*****f***ing picture taken".

Yes, the profanity is required - because most of the time, I'm angry, overtired, drunk, or all of the above.

Because it looks... idiotic.

How many times do you see a picture taken by a photographer who knows what s/he is doing, with the person smiling (especially where they're showing the teeth)? It's only the family snapshooter with his/her point 'n shoot, 40 feet away from the group of 50 relatives lined up in a row, depending in his/her built-in flash with a useful range of 8 feet, that says "say cheese" (or pizza, or whatever).

Uh, sorry, just had to rant... An automatic camera doesn't mean that you don't have to learn jack .... about photography to get good pictures.

BTW, when I'm around while pictures are being taken, I'm usually one of the ones on the reverse side of the lens, so I wouldn't know the answer to the original question. ;)

B/c people don't want to be typical (it's not cool to be typical). Same reason folx say "Hey" instead of "Hi". It's being polite w/o being typical/conformist.

We all know the only way to really be cool in a photo is to give someone bunny ears.

Cuz i hate having pictures taken of me, and when I voice my opinion and they still take the picture, well I'd rather ruin it.
  • #15
i think they do it cause they are uncomfortable.
